Actually, DeskTop and Browser are just special ScrapBooks that may be used any way you choose. I'm not using the DeskTop because I've got my primary activities set up in the Browser as follows. I have, however, installed the Capture ScrapBook in the DeskTop ScrapBook.

First, I have a task that executes a dial-up connection to my ISP. This is necessary since Microsoft's FrontPage programs seem incapable of handling the dial-up procedure. I don't understand why, because the logic is really quite simple.

Next, I run FrontPage98 to switch the registration file and then export the previous days file to my local drive for processing. I then switch to FrontPage2000 for any other updating of the web site that might be required. I would like to use 2000 for all work on my web site since it has some new capabilities; however, it doesn't seem to be able to export anything.

Next, comes Outlook Express, to check my e-mail, and then off to some other sites to check the latest news and/or to join in on the chat at the ZDNet Anchordesk Forum or the PC Magazine Discussion Groups.

From here on the Browser ScrapBook becomes the repository for my "favorites". Having them in a ScrapBook allows for easier maintenance.

Finally, I have a ScrapBook titled "SavedPages" where I save all those words of wisdom from the likes of Jesse Berst, Eric Lundquist, John Dodge, Scot Peterson, Paul C. Tinnerello, Stan Gibson, Peter Coffee, John Tascheck and Jim Rapoza. Did I miss anybody?? Yes, John C. Dvorak.
